Todays featured client is Doug S. Hailing from Shy Town - thats Chicago for you slow folk, he came down to Miami in search of better weather and a great trainer : )
Over the course of a few months Doug took his body fat from 14.8 % to 10.2%!!!! And now are you ready for this????
He gained 8 lbs of muscle!!!! Do you know how difficult that is to cut down and mass up simultaneously....VERY DIFFICULT! for most people wanting to bulk up they try to gain as much weight as possible to gain strength and maximize muscle growth and than "rip" down to get leaner but maintain some of the mass that they had originally built. This is proven to be the easiest and most efficient method.
Doug and I did not want to do this and compromise increased bodyfat during the mass building process so we devised a plan to do both at the same time.
THE GAME PLAN: Very heavy lifting sessions split up into lower body, upper body, push , pull movements within a periodized time frame to allow for rest and to maximize muscle growth. An increase in calorie intake (especially protein). Doug now eats regularly lean cuts of steak and chicken and drinks mass building protein shakes every day.
In addition Doug used to see a chiropracter 3 times a week and now sees him 3 times a month due to the increased strength to his muscles around his spine. His posture has drastically improved and has no more back pain.
Doug is an avid scuba diver, tennis player, volleyball player, and enjoys the occasional poker tournament. He has not only been a great client of mine but a great friend who has given me great advice on many diverse topics. We frequently enjoy having nice conversation over lunch and dinner, cruising our bikes around town and enjoy the occasional coors light/amstel light at one of our favorite hangout spots on lincoln road.
PS - did i mention he is 54 years of age! thats right - he has the body of a 24 year old man (6 pack ABS and everything) with the wisdom of a 100 year old guru! Great Job DOUG!!! NOW ALL I CAN SAY IS - THANKS FOR EVERYTHING!
